City Slickers Ranch

City Slickers Ranch is a tiny little farm where God blesses our busy family daily with lots of entertaining antics from our fur children. Our adult dogs range from 7 lbs to 28 lbs. I specialize in the "Teacup and Teapot (little larger than teacup) Aussies" who will mature at under 11 lbs for teacups and 15 lbs. for teapots. I have some great champion line minis also. Since nothing is a better companion to a Miniature Australian Shepherd than a Ragdoll Cat I raise a few litters of kittens to socialize with the pups. There is nothing cuter than a Ragdoll kitten and Toy/Mini Aussie pup snuggled up together for a nap.

Many children come to City Slickers Ranch for horseback riding lessons while others come to see the most wonderful dogs in the world i.e. lap size Toy Australian Shepherds and of course lovely minis also. I have collected my champion lines from all across the country and work tirelessly to breed for the "perfect Australian Shepherd Toy". I do health clearances on all my adults.

I am a "hobby breeder" so never keep a pup that is not as good or better than both parents. I do not grant breeding rights on my lines and many breeders will tell you that is a dumb "financial decision" since breeders make a good portion of their money off of breeding rights. However, I could not sleep at night knowing the helpless lovely pup I brought into the world that day could head to breeding slavery 8 weeks later. I will not allow my fur kids to land in breeding cages so am doing my part to shut down puppy mills. The puppy mills can only exist two ways…….breeders grant them breeding rights on pups AND puppy buyers buy those pups. Well, I can’t do a thing about the puppy buyers but I can certainly do my small part by not allowing them to acquire my pups for future breeding slaves. I am a religious person and God tells me in his word "I love the man who cares for my animals". Those words tell me clearly that animals are not put here for us to abuse or treat as we like. God gives us clear instructions on what he expects of us. Therefore, at this stage in my life I have two goals. One goal is no higher on my list than the other.

They are to breed the finest toy and mini aussie (aka as Royal Basque Shepherds) in the country and the other goal to do my part in persuading other ethical breeders to join up with me by not granting breeding rights which ultimately will shut puppy mills down. I have granted breeding rights a time or two and those breeders are close friends that believe as I do. I am a patient person and know the world was not created in a day so therefore I will not shut puppy mills down in a day. However, every single day I live I will work towards that goal through many great breeders who didn’t think they had the power they have. We can protect God’s fur kids and I will work tirelessly to do my part so please ask other breeders you know to do the same! Beware of a breeder that allows you breeding rights without thoroughly investigating your breeding program if you have one. Therein lies a potential puppy mill breeder.

The day one of my Veterinarians (who likewise spends weekends at dog shows showing other breeds) said to me "I can now say I have finally seen the perfect pet, a toy Australian Shepherd" was the day I knew my dogs had the potential of changing the lives of many for years to come.
