Double R Aussies

Double R Aussies raises one breed of dog in two sizes. Miniature Australian Shepherds and Toy Australian Shepherds. We are a family owned business and we all take part in helping raise, train, and maintain the dogs. It's a big job but we enjoy doing it.

We believe to raise the right "type" of Aussie you have to start with good stock. We screen all our adult breeding dogs to make sure we are breeding dogs that are free from genetic defects. Our dogs have been Penn HIP to allow us to evaluate their breeding future. This test allows us to make better choices on which stud dogs to breed to which females. We also take into consideration confirmation, size, color, and personalities.

We CERF test each dog before we breed him/her. By careful selection we hope to eliminate the heartbreak of dogs developing hip dysplacia, or other genetic defects, it costs us a little more but it's worth it! Our puppies are happy, healthy, well adjusted animals that will become your wonderful family pets for years to come.

Double R Aussies get to be real dogs! They get daily runs in our woods, swimming in the creek, playing chase and tag with each other. We work on basic obedience, and are beginning on agility as our new "play ground" area is developed. We are amazed at the athletic abilities and the superior intelligence of this breed. They love to please us and go to great lengths to do their "job" and do it right! Spending time with our dogs gives us great satisfaction and it gives them a lot of self assurance and confidence.

We are proud of the stock that we own and breed. We encourage you to be discriminating in purchasing your puppy, buy in haste you may have to live with a problem for a long time. Question breeders to make sure they are doing their job the correct way, make your choice an educated one, do not be in a hurry and just settle for any puppy.

Our dogs range in size from 12" to 16". We are striving for that 13" to 14" mark, we love a dog that size. They are big enough so you don't step on them but small enough to pick up and cuddle. Of course we have all 4 colors to choose from, in both our males and females.

The Mini Aussie is a wonderful, loyal, entertaining family member.
